  • What can a Physical Therapist / Occupational Therapist do?

Physical therapists (PTs) and occupational therapists (OTs) play crucial roles in helping individuals regain or enhance their physical and cognitive abilities to live life to the fullest. While both professions focus on rehabilitation, they have distinct approaches and specialties.

While physical therapists primarily focus on improving movement and function, occupational therapists address a broader range of activities essential for independent living and participation in meaningful life roles. Both professions collaborate closely to provide comprehensive rehabilitation and support to individuals.

  • What is the benefit of working with a residency trained Physical Therapist?

Working with a residency-trained physical therapist offers numerous benefits, including specialized expertise and advanced clinical skills honed through extensive postgraduate training. These therapists bring a deeper understanding of complex cases, allowing them to tailor treatment plans more effectively and achieve better outcomes for patients. Their immersion in diverse clinical settings during residency enhances their ability to address a wide range of conditions and challenges, providing patients with comprehensive and evidence-based care.

  • Do I need a referral / prescription to see a Physical Therapist?

No. The state of Texas direct access law allows physical therapy services to be received for 15 business days for residency trained physical therapists. If treatment is required past the 15 days, a medical doctor's referral will be needed at this time. If it is believed that the client needs more than 15 business days of direct care, it will be discussed during your first evaluation or later on before the 15 business days have passed. Physical therapist's are highly trained in referring to other healthcare providers if it is believed physical therapy may not be the safest/best option for the client.

  • Do you accept insurance?

World Wellness is an out of network provider.  We operate as a cash based care system which prioritizes the client by taking out the middleman (insurance) and allows the physical therapist to decide what the best treatment options are for the client without  the insurance being the one to decide these things. We are fully transparent with our pricing up front, so you won't end up with a bill you weren't expecting at the end. Cash based care provides greater freedom for the client to choose the care they desire.

  • What should I expect on my first Physical Therapy appointment?

Your first visit at World Wellness will be approximately 60 minutes long. Your therapist will go through a full assessment consisting of a detailed history, posture, assessing strength, endurance, movement patterns and balance. All sessions are unique to your needs and will never be identical to another client’s session.

  • What should I wear to my appointment?

You should wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move well.
